sewing for your girls – japanese pattern book review and giveaway!

sewing for your girls a japanese pattern book in englishHi readers!

I’m very excited to be able to offer a book giveaway for a new Japanese Pattern Book for girls that I really love! It’s called Sewing For Your Girls, and it’s one of the best girls pattern book I’ve seen! I’ve already tested out a pattern and am really impressed. AND it’s in English !dressfrontMy dress from the book I posted about last week.contents

The layout of the book is really organized and smart. There are about eight basic patterns, but there are also a variations for each pattern. The extra pattern pieces are included for each basic pattern , so you can make 16ย  different styles as you will see……fabricsAnother great feature in the book is it lists all the fabrics used. Part of the charm of these designs are the fabrics used, and it’s nice to have a reference to use if you want to find your own similar fabrics.

patternintructionsEach style has detailed PHOTOS, not just drawings, showing how to sew it. The detail in the book is really thorough, making it perfect for someone who has never sewn before to get started. There is a section on how to use a sewing machine, which I skipped, but it would be really useful for a beginner, and there are instructions for how to transfer the patterns and cut them properly, too.

transferpatternsBut there is also more advanced information. For instance , how to smock…..smockingintructionsThis may be the incentive I need to finally try smocking!

Below are the pattern designs included in the book….pattern1 pattern2 pattern3 pattern4 pattern5 pattern6 pattern7Cute, no?

The only improvement I feel could be made to the book, would be to add the seam allowances so we don’t have to draw them ourselves. Burda magazine does that too though….. maybe there is a good reason for it I’m not aware of?

So who wants to win a copy of this delightful little girls patterns book?

To enter to win just leave a comment below. Your email will be recorded when you fill it out, but it won’t be visible

ย congrats to Emily @ replicate then deviate! You won the book!
