Welcome to Sew & Tell Saturday!
I hope you are all enjoying your lovely spring Saturday. I for one, am going to try to relax this weekend. I can honestly say I am soooooo tired of sewing right now!
So I look forward to seeing other people’s projects and am giving the old, well, actually it’s pretty new, machine a few days rest.
The good thing is I’m done making costumes for the high school play! This week I made two puffy sleeved ladies jackets, three floor length gathered ladies skirts, and two men’s military frock coats. Then I refashioned and made alterations to a bunch of other pieces. I hate doing alterations. Don’t you? One cool thing did happen when I was lengthening the sleeves of a vintage tuxedo from the theater, though. I noticed the sleeve had been previously altered by hand. It was very fine hand work so I guessed it was done long ago. Well, I was right because when I unfolded the sleeve, a piece of a really old flour sack came out of the sleeve fold. My guess was that it had been used as a sort of interfacing in the sleeve.
It was like finding a little treasure.I’ve been so busy I haven’t been able to photograph anything, but tomorrow is the play, so I’m bringing my camera to take photos to share.
So now it’s your turn. show us what you made!
I do want to apologize for not posting the link up last week. I though it was up and running and then realized it didn’t work while I was away last weekend at the snap conference. I was having so much fun at the conference I forgot to fix it. Plus, I don’t have a laptop. Ahhhh…Link up!
Haha I was pretty sure you were having a good time! I can’t wait to hear more about the play. Cool share!
