My little girl loves unicorns and rainbows! When I was downtown last week I walked into one of those cavernous huge warehouse fabric shops were most of the fabric is in crazy prints and of dubious quality. Everything was two to three dollars a yard so when I spotted this crazy fabric I knew Gigi would love, I figured, why not? Yes, it’s highly synthetic and made goodness knows where….. but that print!
I used a pattern from my archives, The Girls’ Skater Dress from Kitschy Coo patterns. It’s an easy to sew and cute little pattern. A great basic and easy to print out, too. It took about an hour to sew. Yes!
It’s not as much of a circle skirt as the ladies version, it’ s more of a simple flared skirt. I would slash it and spread the skirt a little if I wanted it more flared. Maybe next time. The good thing is you can fit both skirt sides on one width of fabric, saving fabric.
I was having some tunneling issues with my coverstitch machine but have figured things out, thanks to this page I found on Pattern review that explains tension adjustments on the Janome 1000 CPX! There isn’t much info in the manual.
