I have been sewing a loooooooooooooong time.. 40 years.. My husband bought me a sewing machine the first year we were married [I really didn't know how to sew,ha, but had the 'want to learn" back then.ha].. I basically learned to sew by making simple wrap around sun dresses for my new baby girl. I sewed almost all of her clothes. and she loved it. I didn’t sew alot for myself, just an occasional church dress. Then I found Sew weekly in 2010 and did the challenges with Mena. And I am so thankful to her , for getting me to “sew for me”..It has been so fun..
I still sew lots of kid clothes.. I have 4 grandaughters.. so the little dresses keep coming.
It is so nice to have a sewing blogging community , that has the same interest, As none of my friends sew..
    Thank you for the giveaway.

  7. Shirley Ann says

I learned to sew almost 32 years ago. I use to sew a lot in high school and then took a long break until I got married. I didn’t really start sewing to the level that I do now until my children were born.

  9. Elisha says

I’ve been sewing since I was a little girl…. but only took it back up recently after a very long hiatus. It’s all coming back to me slowly, but only after a couple of very ugly projects.

  10. says

Hmm. Letssee… I’ve been sewing since 1980. Started with hand sewing/embroidery, moved on to doll clothes, and then graduated to big people clothes. So, it’s been about 32 years since I started learning to sew. It’s an ongoing process, I think. You never stop learning new stuff!

  11. says

I’ve been sewing since I was in primary school, can’t remember how old exactly but definitely before I was ten, making scrunchie hair ties and dolls clothes.

  12. says

My aunt taught me how to sew when I was 6 or 7. I sewed on and off until March of this year when I really took off and started sewing jeans into long skirts. Now I refashion clothes of all types, sew clothes from fabric with no patterns (ever!) and one of my next projects is to sew my own wedding dress!!

Wow….I have been sewing for over 40 years as well! Although I got my skills from my dad! He worked for Ford Motor Company at the Design Center and did car interiors, as well as upholstery at home, and he always made our Halloween costumes…..he taught me so much…I am thankful for that every day…
Love the chance to win fabric…thanks!!!

I’ve been playing around on the sewing machine since I can remember, and back in the mid-90′s I tried sewing myself a few things. But I didn’t really start sewing for fun until a year and a half ago. I decided to fix up my mom’s old Bernina and sew some clothes for my daughter!

  64. Kess says

I’ve been sewing on and off since I was small. I don’t quite know when I started, but I know I learned different things at different times.

  65. says

Since I can remember? We would get to sew with my mom’s old scraps as little kids. I learned hand quilting at around 12, have haven’t done it since :) .

  66. says

I grew up in a quilty / sewy household so I have been sewing as long as I can remember. I didn’t do much in college but as soon as I got a place of my own I got back at it. Quilting and sewing has become a lot more interesting since the online modern quilting movement. I just love being able to go out and look at other peoples creations and drool over them instead of having to wait for books or magazines to come out.
