I have been very busy making crafts for the Christmas season! I’ve never been that great at making Christmas crafts and decided I would make a special effort this year. I had my Advent wreath from yesterday and now I’m sharing this Advent goodie calender I made for the little girls. I have been meaning to make an Advent calender for years, seriously. Every year it creeps up on us and I end up buying a Trader Joe’s one because I never got around to making one for the kids. Well, I only have one little kid left ,so I had better get busy, I thought! My oldest just turned twenty so that tells you how long I’ve been dilly dallying! Seriously , it sometimes seems like I can put things off for my entire life. And many of us do !
I actually sewed these little stockings up two years ago, but couldn’t figure out a good way to display them. I don’t think I would ever have the patience to sew 26 little stockings like this again with satin stitches and appliqued numbers. I have no idea what got into me to sit down and sew all of these little stockings! A bout of obsessive compulsiveness perhaps? Who knows but they look great on this old frame I found at an estate sale and painted red. The clothespins are from the dollar store and I cut up a piece of scrapbook paper and Mod Podged it onto each pin. Good times!
I had sewed them onto a ribbon but it was totally impractical and would fall down when I put a treat into it so I just put it away. Well, when it comes to craft stuff, I always seem to be like a year late on the trends so I just discovered these Advent frames. Where was I when these came out like two years ago? Probably busy sewing dresses or something. I hung these outside on my old shed. She looks mighty gussied up , doesn’t she?
