So today is the last day of 2011 . Can you believe it?
Have you had a good year? Did you create something beautiful? I know you did and I hope you post it here today if you have a blog. If not, you can always post your photos on my FB page.
I want to thank everyone who posts their projects here. I love to see your work and I know other people who stop by do too.
Together we are putting our handmade stamp on the world!
Power to the makers for 2012!
Time to post your projects at the last sewing linkup of 2011.
Happy New Year!
Below are some beautiful featured projects from the last Sew& Tell Saturday:
A cute little jumper upcycled from an adult skirt at True,Pure,Lovely
Stripes make me happy and so does this dress from Julia Bobbin.
This bridal blouse from Thendrals Crafts is an example of the amazing work this blogger creates.
I loved this original design Cation's Designs came up with for the patternless week at the Sew Weekly . I was really intrigued by that challenge and I think everyone came up with great designs. I for one am starting to work on my own designs more and more. Patternmaking is fun but challenging. Sometimes it's hard to get out of my comfort zone of just using patterns.

I made this dress to wear on New Years Eve but I don't have any plans this year. That's what happens sometimes when you live in the boondocks!
Here the lovely Miss Izzy is modeling. She is a lot more photogenic than me and I only have to pin my dresses a little on her and they look gorgeous on her! When she was a baby back in the city people used to ask me if I was her nanny because she was so fair and blue eyed and I am quite dark. There are no nannies around here but still, I don't think anyone would ever mistake me for being Gigi's nanny since she looks just like me.
Back to the dress.....
Of course, it didn't look anything like the picture on the pattern so I had to make a lot of changes to make it acceptable. This pattern was like a sack as is ! I took it in about 4 inches through the sides and tapered it into an a-line. It's a super easy pattern and slips right over the head. I also added a band to the bottom, shortened the sleeves, shortened the hem, and split the collar so it would lie flat.
The fabric is this interesting metallic woven knit combination. It's soft and cozy on the inside and I have never seen anything like it. I bought it at a going out of business sale for a fabric store and the content wasn't listed. But it feels expensive ! I only paid two dollars a yard for it. ( Love that!)

I know I was going to take this week off from blogging but I had to post to say I have been chosen to be a contestant on a blog contest called So You Think You Can Sew? hosted by Ashley at Mommy By Day Crafter By Night. !
I am so excited but a little ( or a lot ) nervous at the same time. And I am praying that my creative juices don't run dry all of a sudden. I have some stiff competition and the first week's theme starting next Wednesday January 4th, is Sewing For The Home. I have been racking my brain about what to make! We aren't allowed to use any patterns in this contest so I will be flexing my pattern making and draping muscles.
Starting next week, myself and 11 other contestants will post a different project. We will be posting our projects on our own blogs but the voting will take place at Mommy By Day, Crafter By Night. If I don't get eliminated the contest will be four weeks long with a new theme every Wednesday. You, the readers will be voting on your favorite projects so I am hoping you will all stop by and participate.
It should be interestin' !
Please stop by next week and check it out!
